Three days in Pushkar — one of India's oldest towns, built around a holy lake with 52 bathing ghats, Brahma's only major temple, rooftop cafes and the annual November camel mela.
Fly or train into Ajmer, drive 15 km over the Nag Pahar pass to Pushkar. Check into a lakeside or havelli hotel. Afternoon: rest, then descend to the ghats for the evening aarti — floating diyas, chanting, temple bells. Rooftop dinner with a view of the lit ghats and Savitri hill.
Pre-sunrise walk or cable car up to Savitri Mata temple for sunrise over the Aravalli hills. Breakfast, then Brahma Temple visit (one of the very few Brahma temples in the world). Wander Bazaar Street — silver jewellery, leather-bound notebooks, Rajasthani puppets, hippie-era cafes that still play Pink Floyd. Afternoon: optional yoga class or boutique spa.
Morning drive into the Thar desert fringe for a camel ride into the dunes at sunset (if you stretch the day — or breakfast on the sand at sunrise). Return to Pushkar for check-out and transfer to Ajmer for your onward journey (Jaipur, Udaipur or Jodhpur make great next stops).
November to February (peak). The Pushkar Camel Fair happens on Kartik Purnima — usually early November.
