Drive or overnight train from Delhi to Kalka, then the UNESCO Kalka-Shimla toy train (6 hours, 103 tunnels, 800+ bridges) up to Shimla. Check into a hotel near the Mall. Evening: walk Christ Church and Scandal Point on the Ridge, Mall Road shopping, Cafe Sol for dinner.
Morning: Viceregal Lodge (the 1888 summer residence of the British Viceroy), Christ Church, Gaiety Theatre. Jakhu Temple — 108-m Hanuman statue at 2,455 m, take the ropeway. Afternoon: drive to Kufri (16 km, 2,720 m). Horse-back to the Mahasu Peak viewpoint, snow games in winter. Return to Shimla for dinner.
Long drive (250 km, 7-8 hrs) north to Manali along the Sutlej and Beas rivers. Lunch stop at Mandi or Kullu. Optional river rafting in the Beas river (Grade II-III rapids). Check into a Manali hotel in Old Manali or Aleo. Evening at leisure on Mall Road.
Morning: Solang Valley (13 km from Manali) for adventure sports — paragliding, zorbing, skiing in winter, ATV rides. Snow point visit via Atal Tunnel (Rohtang closed in winter). Lunch at the valley. Afternoon: Hadimba Temple (500-year-old shrine in a deodar grove), Manu Temple, Vashisht hot springs. Evening: Old Manali cafes along the Manalsu river.
Drive south to Naggar (20 km from Manali). Naggar Castle (a 500-year-old stone-and-wood palace, now a hotel), Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery. Lunch at a Himachali kitchen. Afternoon: Kullu's Bijli Mahadev trek (short) or the Raghunath Temple. Return to Manali for dinner and bonfire at your hotel.
Early morning transfer to Kullu-Manali airport (Bhuntar) for flight to Delhi, or drive 9 hrs back to Chandigarh/Delhi. Final stop at Parvati Valley en route optional for a half-day side trip.
