Ride the cable car to Narikala Fortress for a full-city panorama, then walk down to the waterfall quarter, Metekhi Church and the Peace Bridge. Lunch on khinkali and khachapuri. Afternoon museums or thermal bath experience.
Drive north on the Georgian Military Highway. Stop at Zhinvali reservoir and Ananuri Fortress. Cross Gudauri and Jvari Pass for wide Caucasus views. Reach Kazbegi and switch to 4x4 for Gergeti Trinity Church beneath Mount Kazbek. Return to Tbilisi late evening or overnight in Kazbegi.
Morning at Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital and a UNESCO site with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery. Afternoon to Uplistsikhe, a rock-hewn cave city used from the Iron Age through the Middle Ages. Back to Tbilisi.
Day trip east to Kakheti for Sighnaghi's hilltop town walls, Bodbe Monastery and a winery lunch. Taste traditional qvevri wines made in buried clay amphorae, a UNESCO-recognised method. Return to Tbilisi.
